Ben recently completed his training at the Royal College of Music Opera School. He was the winner of the 2009 English Song Competition, and received generous support from the Fishmongers’ Company and the Josephine Baker Trust. Ben was formerly a Choral Scholar at King’s College, Cambridge, where he read Philosophy, and Head Chorister at St Margaret’s, Westminster Abbey. He was a Retrospect Ensemble Young Artist in 2010, and is co-founder and vocal consultant of Sloane Square Choral Society.

Ben’s roles include Bertarido in Handel’s Rodelinda, Mirtillo (lead) in Handel’s Il Pastor Fido (1734) and Tassile in Handel’s Alessandro in the London Handel Festival under Laurence Cummings, George Saintsbury in The Lovely Ladies by Peter Cowdrey with Opera Unlimited in the Buxton Festival, Tragedy in Stephen Oliver’s Euridice (after Jacopo Peri) with British Youth Opera, the title role in Kaspar Hauser by Alexis Pope in the Tête à Tête and Grimeborn Festivals, Alessandro (cover) in Handel’s Tolomeo with English Touring Opera, Arsamenes in Handel’s Xerxes with Fitzwilliam Chamber Opera, Hamor in Handel’s Jephtha in the Grimeborn Festival, and various roles in “Orpheus Britannicus” with the Mercurius Company at the Cadogan Hall.

Concert highlights include Ben’s Wigmore Hall debut in Purcell’s The Fairy Queen under Matthew Halls, Purcell’s Hail, Bright Cecilia in the State Hermitage, St. Petersburg under Josef Wallnig, and Bernstein Chichester Psalms and Missa Brevis with the choir of New College, Oxford under Edward Higginbottom. Ben recently covered Mago Christiano in Handel’s Rinaldo with Glyndebourne on Tour, and Nireno in Handel’s Giulio Cesare with Opera North.
